Rope Rescue - User

A rope rescue User is able to assist with a rescue operation which is Supervised by a rope rescue Supervisor.

Training will allow the Rope Rescue User to be fully conversant with all rescue procedures, and be competent in varied techniques for access and fall prevention.

Provides the skills and knowledge required to move competently on ropes as required to assist in rope rescue operations.

Theoretical content includes requirements of BS 7985 and draft ISO working document ISO/WD 22846-2. Characteristics of a safe system of work, including equipment, legal requirements, objective hazards, risk assessment, conformity and certification, inspection, emergency considerations and rescue procedures.

Practical content includes requirements of ISO/WD 22846-2. Basic principles of movement on ropes - ascent, descent, changing from ascent to descent, changing from rope to rope, use of a back-up system, elementary rigging and rope management, elementary rescue.

ACWAHT (Advisory Committee for Work at Height Training) syllabus is also covered in this course.
