The British Standards Institution (BSI) has just published a new ‘Draft for Public Comment’. The latest date for receipt of comments 31 August 2012.
The British Standard will give recommendations for incorporating safe working at height into the design of buildings and other structures during the design process.
The draft provides recommendations on working safely at height and how to take this into account throughout the design process with specific focus on the early strategic and conceptual stages. It also takes into account the requirements of those who are involved in construction, inspection, cleaning and maintenance. It does not give designers prescriptive solutions to working at height but does provide useful guidance to help them manage the process. It is for the design team to develop specific solutions for each individual project.
The draft British Standard is available for review and comment online via the BSI British Standards Draft Review system (DRS) at http://drafts.bsigroup.com (Registration is free).
