In 2001, the HSE published a report on rope access looking at the techniques and practices used in the industry at the time. The report included a survey of rope access operators to identify the equipment being used and is still available on the HSE website.
A lot has changed in the industry in 12 years and the HSL (Health & Safety Laboratory) has been asked to re-visit and re-conduct the survey. Since 2001 a wide range of new equipment has entered the market-place. It is not known how widely this new equipment is being used or whether operators and technicians still rely on more familiar products.
HSL would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete a web based, anonymous and confidential survey at: https://www.hsl.gov.uk/surveys/ropeaccesssurvey/ropeaccess.htm.
The closing date for responses is Friday 15th of November, with results of the survey to be published next year on the HSE’s website.
