The Basic Harness Fitting and Use course is for persons requiring basic compliance to work at height requirements, and knowledge of fitting and using a fall arrest safety harness to connect to a suitable anchor point.
The safety harness training course provides the minimum knowledge required for a person to meet the legal requirements of working at height and basic fall protection techniques.
The training can either be classroom based or safe outside area based for demonstrating the practical use of the equipment chosen.
Course elements covered include:
- Methods of fall protection
- Pre-use equipement checks
- Selection of suitable anchorages
- Fall arrest blocks
- Suspension intolerance
Practical skills covered in this course include:
- Harness fitting and use
- Use of anchorage slings and connectors
- Attachment and use of fall arrest lanyards
- Attachment and use of temporary horizontal line
- Adjustable restraint lanyard use
The Harness Fitting course is useful as a prerequisite to the Rescue After a Fall (Course Ref: TRE2U) or Evacuation by Descent (Course Ref: TRE4U) courses if the candidate has no previous work at height experience.
This half day Basic safety harness Fitting and Use course requires candidates to revalidate their certificate after three years.
