This course is based broadly on the requirements of BS ISO 22846 for the purpose of undertaking rope access classified as “simple”.
Basic principles of movement on ropes – ascent, descent, changing from ascent to descent, changing from rope to rope, passing a deviation, use of a back-up system, elementary rigging and rope management, elementary rescue.
ISO Rope Access Technician – Revalidation course reviews the ability to:
- Select suitable equipment, understand specifications
- Understand risks from different access methods
- Understand risks arising from the work task, work situations
- Understand principles of fall protection hierarchy
- Understand fall factors, suspension intolerance
- Control all hazards e.g. from use of tools, falling objects,
- Maintain, communication, exclusion zones etc.
- Understand worksite rescue plan
- Inspection, care and maintenance of equipment
- Carry out simple rigging
Safety footwear required for all practical sessions.
ISO Rope Access Technician – Revalidation course is based broadly on the requirements of BS ISO 22846 for the purpose of undertaking rope access classified as “simple”.
This course is not intended for persons who will be working in varied work locations or who will be required to carry out a range of work tasks. Candidates wishing to work as general rope access sub-contractors should consider the IRATA Level 1 course.
Covers the characteristics of a safe system of work, including equipment, legal requirements, objective hazards, risk assessment and method statements, conformity and certification, inspection, emergency considerations and rescue procedures.
The practical content of the ISO Rope Access Technician – Revalidation course includes the requirements of BS ISO 22846; the basic principles of movement on ropes – ascent, descent, changing from ascent to descent, changing from rope to rope, passing a deviation, use of a back-up system – elementary rigging and rope management, elementary rescue.
NOTE: ISO Rope Access Technician – Revalidation course is at User level – Employers must ensure that adequate supervision is provided for candidates following this course. Supervisors should be competent in all rope access techniques appropriate to the workplace and the level of supervision should be appropriate to the work situation and the number and skills of the operatives in the work team.
