This Manual Handling course is specially for persons required to move items of equipment related to the wind turbine generator (WTG) work environment safely and efficiently during the working day.
The course aims to give the participants awareness through the theoretical and practical training to encourage positive manual handling behaviour and perform manual handling activities in a safe manner within the wind turbine industry / environment in accordance with GWO / RUK manual handling requirements
This RUK / GWO approved course covers the theoretical aspects of manual handling. These include:- Global and UK legislation, The Manual Handling Regulations 1992 (2002 amendments), risks and hazards in work environments, spinal anatomy and posture, planning the lift, lifting techniques – consequences of incorrect methods, and causes of injuries.
The practical skills covered in the half day training course includes planning a lifting exercise as well as a practical exercise in using the safe lifting techniques learnt in the classroom.
This course requires revalidation of the certificate after a two year period.
RUK / GWO Manual Handling course is a core element in the Wind Turbine Technician Core Skills training course (Course Ref: TTS12U). This five day training course also includes Advanced Hub Rescue, Emergency First aid at Work and Wind Turbine Lifting Hoist Operations.
