The  half day Rail Coach Roof Access training course is aimed at transport workers who need to safely access specific features of rail coach roofs for inspection or maintenance.

This course is tailored towards transport systems such as rail, tram, metro and trolley/electrified buses, more specifically where a pantograph is present.

The short half day training course provides participants with basic knowledge of fitting and using restraint systems. It also includes an introduction to work at height and methods of fall protection including restraint, then goes to cover pre-use check, installation, methods of use and possible defects for specific types of fall protection. The importance of proper sizing and fitting of height safety equipment is covered, together with a selection of anchor points and application and adjustment of work restraint systems.

  • Identifying suitable work restraint equipment

Practical skills covered in Rail Coach Roof Access training include:

  • Fitting a fall arrest safety harness

  • Attachment and use of restraint lanyards
  • The use of adjustable restraint lanyard
