The Industrial Rescue Technician – Advanced course is designed for experienced rescue or emergency team members working in industrial environments who need to operate safely and effectively in more complex rescue scenarios.

Building on core rescue skills, this course develops the technical understanding and practical ability required to create and manage advanced rope rescue systems using the RescuePack. Delegates will learn how to increase system capability, manage higher loads, and operate in challenging environments including confined spaces.

Intended for:

  • Industrial rescue team members
  • Emergency response teams
  • Personnel responsible for complex or technical rescues
  • Individuals with prior industrial rescue training who wish to advance their technical capability

This advanced programme focuses on expanding the RescuePack into a small-scale rope rescue system, enabling teams to operate with greater efficiency, control and safety.

Delegates will develop the knowledge and hands-on skills required to build and manage tensioned rope systems, apply increased mechanical advantage, use releasable deviations, and create complex rigging solutions. These techniques also provide the capability for access and rescue within confined spaces.

A strong emphasis is placed on system understanding, casualty care and post-rescue considerations, ensuring delegates can make informed decisions under pressure.

Knowledge covered

During the course, delegates will gain an understanding of:

  • Complex pulley theory and system efficiency
  • Friction factors in hauling systems
  • Vector forces, angles and end loadings
  • Safety factors in tensioned rope systems
  • Load sharing and force distribution in anchor systems
  • Casualty handling within rescue stretchers
  • Suspension trauma, medical considerations and post-rescue issues

Practical skills developed

Delegates will be trained to:

  • Construct and operate a 6:1 pulley system
  • Use releasable deviations safely and effectively
  • Create complex anchorage systems for load sharing and positioning
  • Build and manage a tensioned line (cableway) system
  • Attach attendants to a stretcher correctly
  • Transfer a stretcher from vertical to horizontal orientation
  • Use suspension trauma loops appropriately
